EULAR

The European League Against Rheumatism (EULAR) is the organisation which represents the patient, health professional and scientific societies of rheumatology of all the European nations. EULAR endeavours to stimulate, promote, and support the research, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of rheumatic diseases. In line with UEMS, EULAR defines rheumatology as including rheumatic diseases of the connective tissue, locomotor and musculoskeletal systems.

The Eumusc.net project was developed as a result of a EULAR organised workshop in Bruxelles in March 2008 at the time of the AAA event. The workshop considered how to raise and harmonise quality of care and enable equity of care of rheumatic diseases and other musculoskeletal conditions across Europe. It was agreed that there was a need to create a network of institutions, researchers and individuals to focus on increasing the knowledge base on musculoskeletal problems by gathering data on the impact musculoskeletal conditions on individuals and society; sharing good practice and clinical guidelines; monitoring implementation of good practice and by disseminating information to healthcare and other stakeholders.
